We hiked to Hidden Lake at Hatcher's Pass (and TELL me this is not the clearest, most beautiful lake you've seen!)
Pink algae growing on the un-melted snow. How weird...
And yes, that is my little sister and her friend in the background who just jumped into the icy lake. Alaskans are so hard core (or crazy)....
We went to my cousin Kimberly's wedding reception. She was a gorgeous bride and Kenadie had a blast dancing the night away!
I tried to squeeze as much time in with my sister after work. Unfortunately, I seemed to work so dang much while she was here but we still managed to squeeze in time for lots of family dinners, games of Nerts, trips to the lake on sunny days, and even a family bowling night. We had so much fun, and now I'm missing my little sister terribly!
2. My brother, Bret, and his adorable family came to visit for a whole month! At Christmas time, "Kenners and Benners" were not exactly loving each other, but this month they were BFF's and she is already missing him.
3. We had a big pizza bash with family and friends making all sorts of specialty pizzas ranging from buffalo chicken pizza, to mexican pizza, to Thai peanut pizza. YUM! Here was my new creation:
Blackened chicken, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, feta crumbles, and mozzarella cheese on top of homemade pesto made from my mom's fresh basil. It was sinfully delicious!
4. We spent 4 days at my aunt and uncle's cabin in Seldovia. One word: paradise! Perfect sunny days on the beach, temps in the 70's, sunburns all around, really good food. This trip is going to earn it's own post in the near future.....
5. The Olympics. Need I say more!? We have been going to bed sooooo late watching the games and consequently so are our little girls. Crankiness all around!
6. And last but not least, Garrett and I spent two days kid-free at Denali National Park for our anniversary. This will also deserve its own post.....
Needless to say, these Alaskan summers are wearing me out! Squeezing so much fun in-between our jobs is hard work, and while I'm not ready for it to be cold and winter yet, I AM looking forward to life slowing down a little in the fall and to re-establish some sort of a routine. Our girls need it! Case in point:
With Mommy and Daddy having no regard for nap-time whatsoever, Lila has had to take naps where she can get them, often in the hiking backpack....
.........sometimes, in the car......
.........and sometimes in Mommy's arms.....
Not to mention the time that Daddy and Kenners passed out in the middle of a big, loud dinner party.....
Sleep is on its way, family.......just as soon as we get through State Fair! :)

Oh my busy! You sound like you've been having so much fun, and I miss you! I had been wondering why I hadn't see a post from you in awhile. Glad to know it was because you were so bust living and loving life. (P.S. - Happy late birthday and anniversary)
