Pay it Forward

Garrett humbled me the other day by telling me that he thinks pregnancy has put me in a bit of a depression and I need to do something about it.
At first my feelings were a little hurt.
It's hard to be chipper and energetic when I have zero energy and am at the "wasting away" phase of pregnancy.  What does he expect!?
But you know, he's right.
Besides doing the bare minimum at church, work, and home,
I have kind of been a bump on a log and I'm embarrassed to say that I can often be found sitting on the couch, wallowing in self pity for how icky I feel.
How pathetic.
And Garrett's right about something else: I need to "do something about it".
And I think that "something"  should be finding some sort of service project to help me forget myself and my minor discomforts......Last week I found a great service project for our family to be involved in and thought I'd share in case anyone else is looking for a good cause to give to this holiday season.....

I recently came across this blog written by a sweet mommy who lost her little girl this past summer when she drowned.  While her daughter was in the pediatric ICU for a week, this mom noticed that since she was so consumed with caring for her daughter, she rarely left her side and consequently was often lacking in some bare essentials like a toothbrush, soap, or even a pen and paper.  So in honor of her daughter's memory and as a way to thank the many doctors and nurses who helped her daughter, she is putting together 200 "survival baskets" for families of pediatric ICU patients at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.  The baskets will include items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, hair ties, gum, pens, paper, disposable cameras, blankets, socks, eye drops, and snacks.  She is accepting donations in form of these items or in money and will be putting the baskets together in December.
If you'd like to get involved in this project and "Pay it Forward", go here to learn more.

I have to thank my wise and loving husband for giving me a little kick in rear to do more positive things in my life.  What a difference a little less self-wallowing has made! :)
I love you, Gar!
