One great thing about Garrett's profession (chiropractics) is that he can choose to set up a practice anywhere he wants.
No company to give us two or three options of where we will live for the rest of our working lives.
We get to choose.
Wherever we want.
Great, right?
Unless you happen to be me: the #1 most indecisive person on the planet.
Sadly, I'm being serious.
You know you have a problem when it takes you weeks of deep contemplation to decide on what pattern of bathing suit to get.
Of course that's just as example, because I would never be that ridiculous....
....anyway....
choosing where to raise your family is a bit of a bigger decision than fabric patterns
and this means that my indecisiveness will be going through the roof.
What place has all four seasons and really warm summers?
Where can we live that is green, has mountains, is close to our temple, has good neighborhoods and schools, has a small town feel, but will be really good for growing a successful chiropractic business?
Where can we live that isn't already saturated with chiropractors?
Where can we live where we'll be able to buy 5 beautiful acres to build our home on?
Can we find such a place where the cost of living isn't through the roof?

Garrett will graduate in a little over a year
at which point we will move to wherever we decide to go
and set up a practice.
Of course if we moved somewhere we absolutely didn't like,
we could always relocate somewhere else.....
....but setting up a practice requires a lot of money, time, and hard work.
Not the kind of thing you really want to do more than once in your life.
So we kind of want to get it right the first time.
We do know that we want to be somewhere out west
We do know that we want to be somewhere out west
and here are our current possibilities (in no particular order of preference):
Alaska (preferably close to my family and Garrett's sisters)
Southern California (close to Garrett's parents and brother....unfortunately, the cost of living is atrocious)
Washington (either Vancouver area or the Tri-Cities area)
Reno, NV (close to Tahoe!)
and we have considered Colorado as well (close to Garrett's brother and his family).
....are you sensing a little pattern of wanting to live somewhere close to family??
So there it is.
I don't know how we'll decide.
We don't exactly have the dinero to fly to all these places and check them out for ourselves...
....so we're doing our research and asking people who have been to/lived in these places,
and I'm sure we'll be doing a lot of praying.
It's kind of exciting to look into different possibilities of where we could end up,
but I think my indecisiveness may drive Garrett crazy by the time we're actually ready to move.
(PS Why would you ever tell anyone to catch a tiger by the toe?!)

Hay, don't leave out California so fast. It really is not that expensive to live here. And if you get in the right area, the schools are great.
Weather is warm, skys are blue, oceans are close, and everyone wants to come and see you because, you LIVE IN THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD!!! and there are fun things to do here. Season passes to Disney Land, Sea World, Wild animal Park, just a few are very cost effective.
the Highways are getting much better than they use to be and expeciall right now with the housing market as low as it is there are many houses that are very afordable.
So Lets not be so fast in discarding the best place in the world to live.
Love Ya.

Oh Sid,
Don't worry. Southern California is still definitely in the running for Dr. Christensen's practice. :)
How can it not be? I am still asking myself why we ever left there a few weeks ago!
Life was better there: we felt great, Kenadie slept SOOOO much better there, and we always have a blast. You and Mom are definitely doing a good job of luring us into moving back....
Scott is from the Tri cities so you should talk to him. It is not the most beautiful but I have always told Scott I would love to raise a family there. Plus there is great shopping all close by and lots of fun running paths and parks for the kids. It takes 5 min to get to the temple from his house.
