Food, tea, and funny books (and food again)

Some random thoughts and happenings of the day:

1) I think I could happily live the rest of my life (or at least a few months) off of sushi, fruit, and lots of water. Sushi because I just love sushi and always have. Unfortunately, it is probably the most expensive type of food I could go out and buy or eat.
Fruit because it's really the only thing I have actually CRAVED during my pregnancy. I've always loved fruit, but in the past three months (since I've been able to actually eat again), it's really ALL I want to eat and these cravings for red grapes, mango, and pineapple are fierce. Even when I do get to have these yummy fruits, the craving is never satisfied.
Water because I'm drinking it like a fish out of water these days. I wake up in the middle of the night parched and needing at least a glass or two. By the morning, I wake up and must guzzle at least three full glasses, and then I probably drink close to a gallon throughout the rest of the day. No wonder my feet and lower legs are getting so swollen, but I can't stop drinking!!

2) Have you ever had raspberry leaf tea? Well, it tastes nothing like raspberries (which is kind of a bummer) but it also doesn't taste half bad. Thanks to my mother's knowledge of herbs and natural pregnancy health remedies, I've been starting to drink a lot of raspberry tea lately. It supposedly helps tone and strengthen your uterus for labor, which sounds like it would make for strengthened contractions -- ouch!-- but I guess it's actually supposed to make for easier/more efficient labor, whatever that means. I'm a little skeptical, but it can't hurt to try, right?

3) My husband got me an early birthday gift the other day: "An Inconvenient Book" by Glenn Beck. The book makes a lot of social, moral, and political commentary on what's wrong with the world these days, how we can solve some of our major problems, blah, blah, blah. Informative and educational: yes. But really, it's just hilarious and entertaining and I haven't laughed out loud so much from reading a book in a long time, possibly in my life. Thanks for the book, Garrett. You're a sweetheart. And sorry for waking you up last night as you were asleep in bed and I burst into random laughter right beside you as I was reading my book.

4) Addendum to #1: I think I could add Sonic fruit slushies to the list of foods I would be happy to subsist on, especially since they're dirt cheap during happy hour (2-4pm). Too bad the closest Sonic is about 20 miles away. Sorrow for sin.
