Today could have been so much more productive than it was. Garrett had a lot of studying to do, I had laundry and cleaning to do and had planned on doing some reading as well. We both had very good intentions for productivity, but frequently found ourselves interrupting each other's studying/reading/housework to discuss the following subjects: crazy fad diets and their potential adverse effects on the body at the cellular level, how to educate the public about which fad diets and cleanses are potentially harmful, how a person's thought process and functioning would be affected by a stroke in each area of the cerebral cortex, and how cells of each body organ regenerate differently. (I know, we sound so exciting.)
I think that health and nutrition topics take up somewhere around 70% of the conversations between me and Garrett these days. (They are probably also the main reason why it seems so hard to get anything done over the weekends when Garrett's at home!) With Garrett in Chiropratic school and me being a nurse, we never getting bored talking about health/nutrition and will sometimes continue to discuss it until 12:30 am when we realize that we need to be quiet and go to bed already. We bounce ideas off each other, research scientific studies together, and probably resemble a pretty nerdy couple that needs to get a life! I'm sure conversations about mortgages, kids, and poopie diapers will soon infiltrate our conversations, but I have a feeling that the nerdy conversations won't cease until we get old and one of us has a stroke that affects the Brocca's area of the brain (the part that controls the ability to speak).
Thanks for an afternoon of stimulating conversation, no laundry, and interrupted study time, Gar! :)

You know, I heard that married people are basically just smarter in general because spouses tell each other about their own knowledge etc. You're just getting smarter! Tim and I love it out here, and yes, Michelle and Brian are coming out in August for law school!
That is so funny! It reminds me of conversations I have with Jesse. He being in medical school and me being a nurse bring on "nerdy" conversations too, I guess. But mostly we just tell each other funny experiences we have with our patients...not anything too intellectual like cellular biology. ;)
I think that is great you guys can have "nerdy" conversations. Sometimes I wished we had more, but since Nate and I are into entirely different academic subjects, it doesn't happen as often as I would like. You should here my immediate family's dinner-time conversations though; my dad and my brothers can go on forever on certain science related topics...
Holly, I miss all the time that we tried to study with each other and kept distracting each other until we had to go into separate rooms. :)
I'm glad you have that with Garrett though.
