Jim Creek

There is a popular place to go fishing and four-wheeling up here where Jim Creek and the Knik River meet.
We went out with our Christensen family the other week to play on the sandy (yes, sandy!) beach and have a hot dog roast.
So much fun!

It's a bumpy, muddy road to get out there, but all vehicles made it intact with only one breaking down along the way.

We are having such a blast enjoying Alaska and being with family.

Upon telling friends and acquaintances in Minnesota that we were moving to Alaska, we received multiple comments like "why would you want to move up there!?", or "I hope you like cold weather!" (which is funny, because Minnesota winters are often as cold if not colder than Alaska winters).
Well, of the many factors that influenced our decision to live up here, this is just one of them:

Luckily, most people have no clue how beautiful or awesome it is up here or it would probably be pretty overpopulated.  I really do think that Alaska (specifically the valley where I live) is one of the world's best-kept secrets.
So for all you wondering what Alaska is like or if you should move here: sure, it stinks..  Total frozen wasteland.  Don't even bother. :)
(Okay, unless your family and friends--and then please feel free to visit us!)

AMAZING photos! You are very gifted!

Alaska looks wonderful. And, cool. I have been sweltering in my 95-100 degree classroom. Do they need teachers in Alaska?

I am glad you and your family made it safely. I worried about you. :)

love, and respect, always.
