While I have a moment

Someday I'm going to live in a house.
No more tiny, old apartment.
No more runs to the laundromat.
No more noisy neighbors (or worrying about my noisy child bothering the neighbors!).
No more dragging groceries up three flights of stairs and down a long hallway while my child finds random garbage and crumbs to stuff into her mouth along the way.
Someday, I'll be in a house, and it will be a glorious day!
And then I'll have to furnish it
(because I think most of our found-it-in-the-dumpster furniture is about to make it to the dumpster. for good.  RIP).
The problem is that I probably won't have a whole lot of money to work with in order to furnish a house with the basics: beds, dressers, desks, entertainment centers, table, chairs.
Enter my new addiction/time-waster-when-I-actually-have-time-to-waste:
Ana White is a young mom who was on too tight of a budget to furnish her new home so she taught herself to design and build beautiful wood furniture.
Not only does her furniture look amazing, but it is super cheap to make (how would you like to build your entertainment center for $250 instead of $1500+!?)
and you can get her design plans and instructions off of her website....for free!
She also offers tutorials on different ways to finish your wood furniture once its built.
How cool is she!?

Oh yes, and she's an Alaskan.  :)

A few items that I would love to build....

my bed:

A media hutch:
 A craft table:

A kitchen for Kenners:

A dining room table:
end storage tables:
...just to name a few.
I may not live in a house yet,
but hey, at least I've figured out how I'm going to furnish it when I do,
and I can't wait to learn how. :)

Wow. Those are great items that you will be able to make! I just got a new drill for Christmas- maybe I am up for making some of these things this summer. Thanks for the great idea!

Hope you are feeling well.

Love to all. ;) Cheryl

Thanks so much for the link! I have to furnish a house soon too, and the thought of all the money that could go into it makes me sick. I love the idea of working hard at it myself.

Oh my gosh! Ana is my new hero. I have no idea how she finds time to do what she does, but what a cool talent. I SOOOO want to get a power saw now. Hmmm. How many wives say that? :)

I love her too- I've made about 5 things from her site with plans for more! Good thing I have my dad's shop with all his tools or I'd be in trouble!

I love her site! I had never built anything before, and I've done three projects from her! And I have my wood all cut and ready to go to make 4 bar stools and a kids picnic table. I'm pumped!
