Phil Shmil

Yesterday, Punxsutawney Phil did something completely out of character: he decided to not see his shadow and therefore give us an early spring.
I guess I should be singing his praises and doing heel clicks, but all I gotta say is this:
Mr. Phil, did someone smoke you out of your little burrow so you couldn't go back inside?  Did someone pay you off with extra groundhog treats to get you to come out??  Because honestly, who in their right mind would not want to go back to bed and hibernate when the whole country is currently either in an ice box or experiencing an extreme blizzard!?!
-7 degrees yesterday in Minnesota (negative temps have been the norm the fast few months), and we were actually grateful that we didn't have it as bad as many other eastern and mid-western states!
Maybe, Mr. Phil, you were trying to buoy up everyone's spirits with news of an early spring.
Well, thanks for the positivity, but I'm choosing the hibernation route of still being in my jammies at 11:30am while I sip hot chocolate and dream of warmer weather.

Plus, there was a whole lot more to look forward to and celebrate in the past few days than just a groundhog's weather forecast.
For example,
Sadie Sue's birthday:

Grandma Lila's birthday:

and the engagement of my sister, Hanna, to Sandy McCleve:

So despite the frigid weather and with or without Mr. Phil's "good news"
it has been a pretty darn-good week.

Wish my week had been as exciting as yours! But the one things we do have in common is frigid temps. We had -17 yesterday morning when I took Connor to the bus! Yikes!
