Why I am SO sore......

A few days ago I babysat for my sister while she went to a doctor's appointment. When she got back, we both sat down on the couches in her front living room while my sister (Katie) fed her baby, Brooke. As we're sitting there chatting (Katie facing her front window which overlooks her driveway), Katie suddenly screams, "Oh my gosh! Holly, your car!!!!" I turn around to see my car slowing rolling in reverse down her driveway and into the street. I quickly ran to the door, leaped off of her front porch (in what could have been a state record for the long and high jump, I'm sure) and sprinted into the street after my car. I finally reached my car's front door and flung it open only to behold Kylee sitting in the driver's seat (hands on the wheel, looking behind her like any good driver would who is backing up) while Brandon is sitting in the back seat looking absolutely terrified. Everything is such a blur to me now, but I'm pretty sure I might have sat on Kylee in an attempt to reached the break and bring my car to a screeching halt. Thankfully, no one was hurt and my car was fine. I think the kids got the dickens scared out of them, though, especially poor Brandon! They ran out of the car in tears, poor kids!!

Evidently, the twins were playing house in my car and had even strapped Kylee's doll into the baby seat in the back car and accidentally released the parking break, thus causing them to take a little cruise down the street. I thought I had locked my car, but evidently I need to be a little more careful in the future. I'm just glad that the kids (and the car) were okay. Holy cow! I think it took a good fifteen minutes for the adrenaline to stop pumping through my veins and for my heart rate to settle down! However, it took me only a few steps of walking to realize that I had pulled some ligaments in my lower abdomen and groin area during my mad dash to stop my car. Seriously!?! From a five second sprint? What the heck! And now I have been soooo sore these past few days.

When Garrett came home that night to see me waddling around in pain, I told him the whole story. His reaction: to laugh really hard and say that he only wished he could have been there to video tape me running and jumping like a crazy woman after the car! You know, it probably looked pretty darn funny. I'm sure I would have laughed at myself too.

You know, running and jumping like that would not have phased my body in the least 7-8 months ago, but it's amazing how much a few extra pounds in the abdominal area can screw your whole body up! So seriously, you work-out queens: how the heck do you not pull your abdominal ligaments to shreds when you're working out while you're big and pregnant? I just don't get it! All I can say is, I am SO looking forward to having my body back and being able to do a little physcial exertion without it turning me into a mess!

Oh my goodness!! That is quite the story!! I am sooo glad it all turned out good. How scary! I am glad you, baby, and the kids are all safe. I can't believe Garrett laughed, but I can so picture it!! :) Were your keys in the ignition? How did they get it to actually move? I will definitely not let my kids play in he car anymore.

Is you hospital bag in the trunk along with your slippers and family magazines to read while you are waiting for your angel to appear? =) Love you!

Goodness! That is a story to record for posterity! I'm glad it worked out alright, and I wish I could have been there to watch it, too (but I'd only want to watch a video of it, knowing in the end that it would all be okay).

It's amazing what the adrenaline will do. Wow! I have to tell you that happened to me also. We lived in Valley Center and our house was in a large orange grove with a long dirt driveway. No houses or cars close. I was pregnant with Garrett at the time and I honestly can't remember if it was Tyler who would have been under 2 or Adrienne who was 3, who did the same thing. I don't remember the details just that I saw my car backing out of the driveway going for the ditch. I was terrified but luckily I was able to get to the car and stop it. I don't even no how. It's amazing what the body can do in times of stress!!!! I'm so glad you wrote that story down because now you will remember the details. Way to Go and I do Hope you recover soon!
