Productivity

So I've found the number one way to beat the post-vacation blues is to stay bUsY! And that's just what I've done in the week since returning from our dream vacation in Mexico. Here's a run-down of my productive week:

1) Katie and I got the flower and vegetable gardens planted at her place. Now there are pretty flowers around her house and come late summer, we'll have peas, green beans, tomatoes, radishes, lettuce, carrots, onions, squash, broccoli, and cauliflower. Yum!

2) Went in for an OBGYN check-up. I guess eating seafood and some sushi while on vacation didn't bother the baby at all. Strong heartbeat and kicking my ribs like crazy!

3) Deep-cleaned my apartment from top to bottom. LOVE having a clean home!

4)Made an awesome, BIG book for my mother and father-in-law containing all the pictures and memories from our vacation. (It's on its way in the mail, Claire! I'm so excited for you to see it!)

5) Discovered a really cute and trendy handbag and accessory shop in downtown Chaska and went window shopping with Katie.

6) Have done multiple babysitting stints, including mornings at an in-home day care and sporadic babysitting for my sister.

7) Finished reading "1776", which is amazing, by the way. I learned SO much about our nation's founding from reading that book. I've now started reading "The 5,000 Year Leap" by Cleon Skousen (an amazing author and in my eyes, a genius.) So far it's excellent. I HIGHLY recommend it if you've ever wanted to REALLY understand the US Constitution.

8) Ordered, received, and already read half of a book called "Hypnobirthing: The Mongan Method". I want to try and deliver my baby unmedicated (I know, many of you probably think I'm weird), and this method is one of the most effective and successful ones out there. So far this book is really good. So I'm practicing the techniques and preparing myself, hoping that my labor goes smoothly enough to avoid needing an epidural or C-section. We'll see!

9) Made my own laundry detergent and plan to make my own dishwasher detergent pretty soon here. (For recipes, go to www.iamfrugal.blogspot.com. AWESOME website)

10) Just watched my adorable nieces and nephews overnight while Katie and Ryan went out for their anniversary. (Happy Anniversary you guys!)

11) Survived the night despite having the migraine of the century and being up most of the night with it, heartburn, and with my poor little Brookie who is teething!

12) Made yummy banana bread and a few delicious dinners.

13) Plan to paint my toenails sometime today (and hey, this IS a big deal for me! Only happens once or twice a year!)

14) Caught up on some of the TV shows that I missed seeing while in Mexico.

15) Will hopefully catch up on a lot of missed sleep!

Here's to productivity! Cheers!

I took the hypnobirthing course and found it really helpful. I think that is one of the reasons I was able to deliver my first baby unmedicated an pretty much felt great the whole time doing it. As a compliment to that book I would read "Birthing from Within". Parts of it are really weird because the lady is really into creating birth art (which I think was useless), but the pain management techniques she goes over were useful to me to see what helped me to stay calm, and what did not help. Nurses counting at me did NOT help, so when they started doing it at the hospital, James and I were able to politely ask them to stop and told them what did help me in pain. Anyway- that's probably too much information but you can totally do it med free on your first baby- I actually really liked it!

I think it's awesome that you would like to deliver sans medications!! I think you can totally do it!! I have experienced both and honestly, going all n-a-t-u-r-a-l isn't that bad!! Maybe we can talk about it another time!! hehe :) I am thinking about just having a midwife with this baby!! It sounds exciting and so organic!!
