About a Girl

Once upon a time there was a beautiful, kind, hard-working girl named Hanna.

When she was in high school she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

After months of chemotherapy, radiation, and feeling like poo, her cancer went into remission (boo-yah!), she went off to college, and fell in love with this handsome man:

And then they got married.....

And then she graduated.

And because she has as heart the size of Alaska, she used her degree in medical assisting to work at the Hunstman Cancer Center as a way for her to "pay it forward" and help those struggling with cancer just as she was cared for during her illness.

And then a few weeks ago her head began itching her.  Then she got persistent, low-grade fevers.  And then the sudden lump under her right collar bone.  And then the nights sweats.  And then The PET and CT scans.  And then a biopsy.  And now it's Round #2 of Hanna vs. Cancer.  And all the while her father-in-law is battling a dangerous form of brain cancer himself.

We all have our trials and battles, but some seem to get hit a little harder than others and the distribution of trials doesn't always seem fair......I can't help but think that there is a big, big reward waiting for my sweet sister for going through this "refiner's fire" again, especially when it has come at such timing as this......

Prayers on her behalf would be much appreciated in the coming week as we wait for the extent and exact diagnosis of the cancer to be determined (some cancers are far better to have, and we're hoping for the more curable kind!).  We love you, Hanna!  Now let's kick this cancer in the butt! :)
