Calling all Mothers: Do you have THIS problem?

I recall my sister, Katie, once complaining that every time after she has had a baby, she grows a bunch of new hair right at her hairline that sticks out and is incredibly annoying.
I thought that was weird.
But now, I can completely sympathize!
I have all this new hair growth at my hairline that sticks STRAIGHT OUT.

These pictures don't do my hair sprigs justice because my hair is post-shower-wet and if I let the sprigs get too dry--before I blow-dry the heck out of them or hair spray them to my head--then just imagine me walking around looking like a little duckling with downy fluff sticking up all around.
I'm being serious.  They are so unmanageable.
However, after taking much time to tame my sprigs, I get these results:

Not too bad, but I can only manage them by parting my hair in one particular place (and, like I said, a lot of work).
I can't pull my hair straight back without getting sprigs sticking up.
I can't do "the poof" (Garrett is very happy about this) without displaying a "sprig city".
I can't wait for these little devils to grow out!
So are we Willardson girls alone in this annoyance,
or do other mothers out there get the postpartum sprigs?!

I have them. Right now. But mine are curly and stick straight up no matter what I do. I am so annoyed with them. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one though. This seems pretty normal.

ugh, no, you're definately NOT the only one! Seriously, I know it sounds vain, but it's my very least part of having a kiddo. The pregnancy, the birth, getting up in the middle of the night, all of that I can handle. But the crazy little hairs, I just can't stand. Plus, they last forever....I'm talking until the little one is a year-1.5. It stinks!

Hi Holly - love your blog! I am going through the same thing right now! I was just examining mine in the mirror last night. What I am finding even more annoying is all the hair I'm losing...ugh! I read that normally you lose 125 hairs a day but starting about 12 weeks after birth you start losing about 500 hairs a day. When will it end?? :)

You do not suffer alone my dear. Alas, I too have fallen prey to the, as my brother-in-law's sister calls them, the "nursing bangs." I got fringe bangs to try to hide them: bad idea. I just have to keep 'em down through blow drying and hairspray like you do.

Yep, I got 'em too! But mine are only about 1 inch or less right now because my baby is only 6 months old. Starting at about 3 months postpartum, I too started losing hair by the handfuls and now it's starting to grow back. I guess it's yet another thing we women have to sacrifice to be a mother. Oh well. Everyone who's a mom goes through it. At least it's not a permanent scar like stretch marks (got those too!)
