Once upon a time as a freshman in college (nearly 8 years ago), I bought a purple Roxy Quiksilver shirt at DI (thrift store) for $2 and wore it all the time. Though I never wear it anymore (because the style is too short), I have a hard time giving it up because I loved that shirt (and I spent a whole $2 on it, dang it!). So problem #1: the shirt sits in the bottom of a drawer.
I also have a really cute tank top shirt (meant to be worn over an "under tee") that my mother-in-law gave me a few years ago for my birthday. Well, that shirt is just a little too short on me so I haven't worn in in awhile. But I don't want to toss it because it's so cute and someone special gave it to me! So problem #2: this shirt also sits in the bottom of a drawer.
You may not have noticed, but I have a precious little cherub named Kenadie attached to my hip all day long. On top of being a chub, this girl is TALL and grows out of clothes every 30 seconds. I am particularly running out of dresses for the little munchkin. But I can't just go buy her some dresses....baby clothes are so ridiculously expensive! So problem #3: Kenadie will soon no longer have cute dresses to wear, resulting in people mistaking her for a boy and followed by a lifetime of identity crises and/or parental loathing on Kenadie's part.
I just can't have these problems in my life, people.
So.....
Solution to all 3 problems: Re-purpose!
Thanks to the inspiration from my sisters-in-law (Nicole and Adrienne) and from my favorite blog, I turned my two shirts into new dresses for the Kenners.
Because I'm such a novice at sewing and didn't have a pattern to work off of, it took me A LONG time, but I think they turned out decent. And just about the time that Little Miss Sweet Cheeks grows out of her last dress, these should fit her.
They're cute.
They're fun.
And I didn't have to pay a dime for them.
Plus, maybe we can avoid any parental loathing!?

Great job Holly!!!!! Yay! I can't wait to see her in them!!! :)
No way! That is amazing! I am trying to figure out how to make a T-shirt quilt because I have a lot of old sentimental shirts that I don't wear anymore but still want to keep. What a fun idea too.
Way to go! Very cute, by the way what size is she in now?
